How to make intention for Tahajjud prayer?
Which surahs and prayers are read during the Tahajjud prayer?
For whom is Tahajjud prayer obligatory, who can perform it and who cannot perform it?
We answered many questions like this.

What is Tahajjud Prayer and How Many Rakats?
Tahajjud literally means "to sleep, to wake up, to wake up with difficulty from sleep". Tahajjud Prayer (Night Prayer) is a prayer performed after performing the night prayer, sleeping for a while and waking up, apart from tarawih and witr prayer.

There are various narrations about how many rakats the Tahajjud prayer is. However, it can be performed up to 12 rakats, with a minimum of 2 rakats. It is a prayer performed in even numbers.

How to Perform Tahajjud Prayer, When is the Time?
The intention is made for the Tahajjud prayer and it can be performed up to 12 rakats, with a minimum of 2 rakats. While it can be performed by saluting every 4 rakats, it is more acceptable to perform it by saluting every 2 rakats.

At what time is the Tahajjud prayer performed? The answer to the question is:

It is performed after sleeping for a while and waking up after the night prayer (after two-thirds of the night has passed). The last two-thirds of the night is the last part of the period between the time of the night prayer and the dawn of dawn. The period until dawn is the time determined as imsak time on the calendar pages today. Therefore, a person who wants to perform a Tahajjud prayer can perform this prayer until imsak time.

So, can the tahajjud prayer be performed without sleeping? No. The most important point of the Tahajjud prayer is to be able to give up sleep when sleep is the sweetest for Allah. The prayer performed by a person who does not sleep becomes a supererogatory prayer.

How does it mean to perform the tahajjud prayer in a dream?

The dream of a person who performs the tahajjud prayer in a dream is interpreted as meaning that the person will rise in rank in the sight of Allah.

Our Prophet (pbuh) stated the most virtuous time of the tahajjud prayer in a hadith narrated by Abu Hurayra (r.a) in Sahih Muslim as follows: "The most virtuous prayer after the fard prayer is the night prayer. If you divide the night into two parts. "The last part is the most virtuous time for prayer. If you divide the night into three, the middle is the most virtuous time." (Tecrid-i Sarih Terc. IV, 16).

In some narrations, it is stated that our Prophet (pbuh) went to bed without performing the witr prayer after performing the night prayer, woke up after two-thirds of the night, performed the tahajjud prayer and then performed the witr prayer. (Muslim, Salatul – musafirin,26 181-200)

The tahajjud prayer, known as muekked sunnah, can be performed in the following order, which is also seen in the actions of our Prophet (pbuh).

Performing the night prayer
To glorify and pray for the night prayer
lie down and get some sleep
Getting up in the middle of the night and performing the tahajjud prayer
Performing witr prayer
To perform the morning prayer when the time comes
How to Intend for Tahajjud Prayer?
The intention for the tahajjud prayer can be made as follows: "I intend to perform the tahajjud prayer for the sake of Allah" or "I intend to perform the nafilah prayer for the sake of Allah".

If it is performed in such a way that one salute is given every 2 rakats, there is no need to make the intention again for each salutation. If the person is busy with something else or talks about worldly things after greeting, it is necessary to make the intention again.

While performing the Tahajjud prayer, prayers and rosaries can be recited in between.

Which Surahs and Prayers are Read in Tahajjud Prayer?
Tahajjud prayer (Night Prayer) is performed in the same way as other nafilah prayers. The intention is made, then the takbir of iftitah is recited and the prayer begins. If we assume that the Tahajjud prayer will be performed in 2 rakats, it is possible to perform it as follows:

In the Rakat of the Tahajjud prayer: Subhanake is recited. After reciting the Euzu Basmala and reciting Fatiha, at least 3 short verses from the Holy Quran or 1 verse with the length of 3 short verses are read. Then one goes into ruku' and prostration.
In the rakat, the Bismillah is recited and Surah Fatiha is read. Again, bowing down is performed by reciting 3 short verses from the Holy Quran or 1 verse that is 3 verses long. You sit after bowing and prostrating. The prayers of tahiyyat, salli-barik and rabbena are recited and greeted. If it continues, the prayer is completed by performing the other rakats in the same way.
If it is performed in 4 rakats instead of a salutation in 2 rakats, when sitting at the end of the second rakat, "Allahumme salli" and "Allahumme barik" are recited after "tahiyyat". When you stand up for the third rakat, first recite "Subhanake", then recite "Euzu basmala" and recite Surah Fatiha.
Tahajjud Prayer Prayer
According to what was narrated from Abdullah bin Abbas (r.a.), one of the prayers that our Prophet made when he woke up at night was as follows:

Turkish Reading: Allâhümmec'al fî hearty light and fî basarî light and fî sem'î light and 'an Yeminî light and 'an yesârî light and supreme light and throne light and emâmî light and halfî light and vec 'al lî nuran And fî narration: 'Asabi and lahmi and demi and sha'ri and human.

Meaning: “Oh my God! Give my heart a great light; Give light to my eyes and light to my ears; Give light to my right and light to my left; Give light above me and light below me; Give me a light in front of me and a light behind me; Grant me a great light!”

In another narration, the following was added:

“Give light to my nerves, light to my flesh, light to my blood; "Give light to my hair and light to my skin." (Bukhari, Deavât, 9; Müslim, Müsâfirîn, 181)

H2: To whom is Tahajjud Prayer obligatory, who can perform it and who cannot?
According to the majority of scholars, the Tahajjud prayer is considered supererogatory. Since it is a prayer that our Prophet (pbuh) performed regularly, it can be called muekked sunnah. Although scholars disagree on whether the tahajjud prayer is obligatory or obligatory, specific to our Prophet (pbuh), the majority of scholars agree that it is always obligatory.

Hz. Aisha and Hz. According to the narrations from Abbas, the tahajjud prayer became obligatory after the first verses of Surah Muzammil were revealed. The companions also performed the tahajjud prayer for a year. However, after a while, Allah Almighty abolished this order with the last verse of Surah Muzammil, as it would be difficult for Muslims who were busy with making a living and doing jihad during the day, to get up to worship every night. Thus, it has been stated that tahajjud is a supererogatory act of worship. (Muslim, Salatul – Musafirin, 139: Abu Davud, Tetawvu, 17,27; Nesai, Kıyamül Leyl,2)

According to the majority of Hanafi and Shafi scholars and the Hanbalis, the tahajjud prayer was obligatory at first, but later turned into nafilah.

Can Tahajjud Prayer be Performed in Congregation?
According to the Hanafi sect, it is makruh to perform the tahajjud prayer in congregation. According to the Shafi'i and Hanbali sects, all other nafilah prayers, including tahajjud, can be performed both individually and in congregation.

What are the virtues of Tahajjud Prayer? Why Does It Beautify the Face?
There are many verses and hadiths regarding the virtue of the Tahajjud prayer. Tahajjud prayer is the prayer that has the most reward among other supererogatory prayers. At the same time, the tahajjud prayer is a means for the acceptance of prayers. Our Lord says the following about believers who interrupt their sleep at night and get up for the tahajjud prayer:

"Their sides turn away from their beds (they get up to perform the tahajjud prayer), they pray to their Lord with fear and hope, and they spend (for charity) from the sustenance We have given them. No one knows what beautiful (blessings) are stored for them that enlighten their eyes in return for what they have done" (as- Prostration, 32/16-17).

In the silence of the night when everyone is asleep, in the sweetest place of sleep, getting up from their warm beds, praying the tahajjud prayer, opening their hands and praying to their Lord with fear and hope are promised blessings that will be the brightness of their eyes...

Those who performed the Tahajjud prayer and whose prayers were accepted began to receive these blessings of our Lord while they were still in this world.

In another hadith, our Prophet (pbuh) says: "Allah will have mercy on the man who gets up at night to pray, wakes up his wife and makes her pray with him, and sprinkles water on her face if she does not want to get up. He also forgives the sins of the man who gets up at night and prays and wakes up his husband." "God will have mercy on the woman who sprinkles water on her face if she does not want to get up (forgive her sins)." (Ebû Davûd, Salatü`tTatavvu`, 18).

The hadith not only encourages a person to perform tahajjud but also encourages family members to do so. When the time for the Tahajjud prayer comes, it is much more valuable in the sight of Allah for believers to spend these hours together with their family members. They should know that the tahajjud prayer is a precious hour in which their wishes and requests will be accepted.

In the light of the hadith of our Prophet (pbuh), the benefits of the tahajjud prayer are as follows:
It is a means of getting closer to Allah and drawing His mercy upon us.
It prevents people from committing haram acts.
It atones for sins.
It helps to get rid of physical diseases.

They asked Hasan Basri about whether Tahajjud prayer makes the face beautiful; "Why are the faces of those who perform night prayers beautiful and bright?"

He said: "Because they were left alone with the Most Merciful."

So, tahajjud prayer is the best way to be alone with Rahman. And just as it purifies the heart from harams and evils, it also cleans the body from diseases; It also purifies the face from ugliness. It gives material and spiritual beauty.

He Who Has No Night Has No Day
When we examine the lives of the prophets, we can better understand the difficulties a caller faces. All prophets of all time fought for a common cause, for the cause of monotheism; They were subjected to many tortures and oppression, were expelled from their homelands, and were forced to leave the places where they were born and raised.

Would you like to learn the true meaning of the "cause of monotheism", which is the common cause of all Prophets? Click on the link now for the "Tawhid Brochure" that we prepared as Furkan Gönülleri, and learn the true meaning of the Tevhid cause, which has been forgotten.

Allah (cc) subjected our Prophet and his ummah to a rigorous training in order to prepare them for such difficult days. Thanks to this education, even death did not frighten them; They were able to lose their loved ones, their families, their homeland, their property and their lives. Because their hearts have become filled only with the love of Allah and His Messenger.

When the first revelation came to our Prophet (pbuh), he was afraid and anxious. Hatice took refuge in our mother and said, "Cover me." he said. Allah Azza wa Jalla says in Surah al-Muddassir; “O you who are covered with your veil! Get up and warn!” He addressed our Prophet by saying "O Prophet, throw off that veil, there is a great duty waiting for you." Then, with the Surah Muzammil, “Rise up, except for a small part of the night. And recite the Quran (perform prayer)” “We will reveal to you a harsh word.” he said. Our Lord said, “Arise at night.” He showed us how to carry that heavy word with his command. After this verse was revealed, our Prophet (pbuh) and his companions woke up at night and prayed for a year. In fact, his feet were swollen and injured from praying.

This is how our Lord prepared His Prophet and his companions for those difficult years to come. Those who undergo such training become stronger. They learn to do what they do only for Allah, and their devotion to their Lord increases. When a person's connection with his Lord is strong, it becomes easier for him to show patience against the calamities that befall him. If his connection with Allah is weak, his life in the cause of Islam will be short.

Today's callers to Islam can only be resistant to difficulties with this education method of our Lord. Those who cannot spend their nights for Allah, those who cannot get up at night and perform the Tahajjud prayer; How will they fight in the way of Allah during the day and carry this heavy case? So, this sentence will be the summary of everything: "He who has no night, has no day!"
