About the Risale-i Nur
Alparslan Kuytul Hodja's Opinion on Risale-i Nur:
Bediuzzaman Said Nursi is the rising voice of faith against disbelief, of the East against the West. The wave of Westernism/innovation that has been going on since the Tanzimat Period has receded in front of the Nurculuk fortress for the first time. Like a strong wind, the Risale-i nur, noisy at times and muffled at others, became a savior for the oppressed, despised and violated Anatolian people. Risale-i Nur was fed by the Qur'an, put forward with ihlas, and awakened thousands of sleeping people. As the Risale-i Nur enlightened the people, the imposed ideology and western ideas were destroyed one by one. The peasant and the city dweller, the Anatolian and the modern, civilized, intellectual came face to face.
Nurism is a reaction. It is the rebellion of faith against heresy, of the East against the West, of the madrasa against the pretentious and inferior universities. Each treatise is a symbol of awakening, a glimmer of faith echoing in the bosom of the people. Said Nursi is a man of cause. Despite a lifetime spent in exile and prisons, he is a man of struggle who put everything he had for the awakening of the people against all kinds of oppression and obstruction.
Bediuzzaman (Rahimehullah):" All books should lead to the Qur'an, and no book should be made a curtain for the Qur'an". The Risalas should be read and benefited from. It is a valuable work that will refresh your faith in terms of contemplation, faith, and the attributes of Allah, and will touch the heart of the reader. Bediuzzaman, a person who has suffered a lot for the cause of Islam, leaves a deep impression on the reader. Risale-i Nur mostly explains the first part of the verse "To Allah belongs the creation and the judgment". It provides support to those who read it at these points. But a Muslim needs all vitamins. As we gain faith, contemplation and spirituality through Risale-i Nur, we also need other things. Risale-i Nur should be read, but it is not correct to say only the Risale needs to be read. Considering the period and conditions in which the Risale was written, Ustad Bediuzzaman tried to save the faith of that generation and to create a new generation. Already in the Letter of the Ustad: "We have realized that at this time we have been entrusted with the task of issuing fatwas on matters of faith." He says.
Today, Muslims need a new movement along the lines of the Qur'an and Sunnah, accompanied by the Prophetic Method of Movement. Risale-i Nur is not a book of movement. It strengthens faith and nourishes the heart, but the information it provides for external issues is insufficient. In addition to strengthening his faith, the Muslim needs knowledge of fiqh to learn the line between halal and haram, the science of aqeedah to learn his faith, the knowledge of seerah to know his prophet, as well as procedural sciences. All vitamins are found only in the Qur'an. The issues that Risale-i Nur touches upon are clear, we benefit from it in that field. In matters that it does not touch, we benefit from other books.
